Functions:
The Old Orchard Beach Detective Division is comprised of two detectives.
The Detectives division has several different functions within the department. The primary function is the investigation of all criminal activity within th Town of Old Orchard Beach.
The type of crimes investigated by the Detective Division range from the report of criminal mischief (vandalism), burglaries, assaults, investigation of sexual assaults, deaths and homicides.
The main goal is the apprehension and successful prosecution of criminals as well as the recovery of stolen property.
Additonal Duties:
- Maintenance of the Sex Offender Registry for the Town of Old Orchard Beach;
- Crime Scene Investigation which involves collection and identification of evidence and identification of evidence as well as laboratory processing and submission of evidence to the State Police Crime laboratory;
- Act as a liaison with State, Federal and Local Law Enforcement Agencies;
- Providing awareness information to the community in regard to recent crime trends and criminal activity, through policing meetings and other notifications;
- Maintain evidence storage for all evidence collected by the Old Orchard Beach Police Department.
