New As of 12/31/25, any voter (other than a uniformed service or overseas voter) may apply for ongoing absentee voter status: (PDF). A voter who qualifies will automatically receive an absentee ballot for each statewide election, municipal election and any other election for which the voter is eligible to vote and need not submit a request for each election. Voters must sign and submit the completed form to their municipal clerk.

Municipal Ballot Question Committee Handbook–beginning 10/25/2023, any individual or group that raises or spends more than $5,000 to support or oppose a municipal ballot question, or does a petition to place a referendum question on the municipal ballot, must register and report as a ballot question committee. The committee will report directly to the Maine Ethics Commission.
