The Grand Opening of the new storyboard walking trail at the OOB Recreational Complex at the Ballpark.

The Old Orchard Beach Recreation Department has been constructing a .5 mile hiking trail, built around the beautiful baseball stadium and scenic pond.

The new hiking trail showcases the varied cultural and natural settings at the Ballpark. From its starting point west end at the OOB Recreation Complex, the path circles a small retention pond where numerous birds and other wildlife species are routinely spotted in their diverse habitats along the trail. As you continue down the trail, you enter into the family picnic area—a perfect spot to take in the majestic view of the entire baseball stadium. The path makes a loop around the outfield wall and back through the woods, returning you to the beginning of the trail.  Every two weeks a new storyboard will be posted along the trail.

The Grand Opening will be Thursday, July 23 at 11:00 am.  The walk begins at the west end near the community gardens at OOB Recreation Complex at the Ball Park.  We ask everyone to wear a mask and to social distance while at the ribbon-cutting.  Dogs, on leashes, are also welcome.
