Age Friendly Community Day on Saturday, June 16th, 2018, with scavenger hunts, music, food, give-aways, booths of information from Town staff, mini book sale by the library, artists and their works for possible sale, Museum in the Streets, food tasting from restaurants, palace playland, bouncy house, petting zoo, Harmon Museum, etc. The event will take place on Old Orchard Street, the Square and Memorial Park. June 17th will be the rain date.

Old Orchard Beach is proud to announce that we are an “Age-Friendly” Community supported by AARP. My office initiated this effort which then was launched by Assistant Town Manager Louise Reid with Facilitators Pat Brown and Helene Whittaker in June 2017. A Core and Support Group was formed with over fifty individuals anxious to see the mission of the “OOB Community Friendly Connection” (OOBCFC) succeed by the involvement of the residents of all ages within our community, which resulted in an OOBCFC Vision Statement. With that in mind the OOB CFC is planning an exciting and informative community-involved event titled “Imagine, Dream, Believe” to be held Saturday, June 16th, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (rain date – Sunday, June 17th), closing Old Orchard Street to Milliken Street. The “Imagine, Dream, Believe” event is an all-inclusive celebration involving Town Council, Town Administration, businesses and community groups. There will be individual tables for Town Departments, Committees and Boards as well as Town Council members. The goal is to give residents the opportunity to visit with each at their tables and receive valuable information. There will be displays for people of all ages including Police and Fire equipment, food tasting, medical testing, a Shredding Truck, Medicare information and School participation, all to benefit our residents and visitors. Transportation from the High School and Milliken Street parking lots will be provided by Shuttlebus.
By March 15th, I would ask that if you are interested in being part of this Celebration that you provide the Assistant Town Manager your intent by e-mail (email@example.com) or by phone (207-284-3652). She will acknowledge your request by e-mail and will provide you with continued updates as needed.
• Each group will provide their own Table or Canopy for the event and that it is safely secured;
• We will have an assigned place for each group that will be indicated on an event map;
• There will not be sale of food or beverage items, but donations for participating non-profits at their tables/displays such as T-Shirts, caps etc., and donation jars are fine;
