Old Orchard Beach Public Works is dedicated to providing a variety of services for the welfare and safety of the Old Orchard Beach community. We handle maintenance of streets and sidewalks, street sweeping, snow plowing, snow removal, debris removal from storm basins, sewer main maintenance and upgrades. The Public Works garage repairs and maintains our fleet of vehicles/heavy equipment, Police Cruisers, and RSU 23 vehicles. Our sign shop is responsible for installation and maintenance of all street signs, traffic signs, line striping and graffiti removal.
Opening day for the transfer station is April 12, 2017 from 7:30am until 2:30pm.
At that time it will be weekly on Wednesdays as well at Saturdays from 8am until 12pm

Curbside Trash, Recycling, and Disposal

If you see a Street Light that needs repaired, please call the Public Works off at 934-2250, with the location and if possible pole number. The Public Works office will report the outage to CMP and lights are usually repaird within 72 hours. If you prefer to notify CMP yourself, please use the following link to report the outage. The Town of Old Orchard Beach Public Works Department has posted the following roads for any non-exempt vehicle commencing on March 29, 2017 and will remain in effect until April 12, 2017 unless otherwise posted.
Milliken Mills Road (Portland Ave – Cascade Road)
Old Orchard Road (Ocean Park Road – Saco Town Line)
Portland Ave (Cascade – Scarborough Town Line)
Ross Road (Portland Ave – Scarborough Town Line)

Smithwheel Road (Vallee Lane – Ocean Park Rd)
Walnut Street (Portland Ave – Milliken)
Exempted vehicles would be all vehicles or combination of vehicles 23,000 pounds or less, emergency response vehicles, school buses, fuel delivery trucks, waste collection trucks, State or municipal highway maintenance vehicles or authorized vehicles under the direction of a Public Works.
This posting is in accordance with the Town of Old Orchard Beach Ordinance Sec. 54-323. - Restrictions and notices.
For the purpose of facilitating the removal and plowing of snow, the director of public works or police chief may declare a snow emergency and order a no parking ban. Notice of such ban shall be broadcast as soon as it is reasonably possible along with any alternate parking sites. The police chief or the director of public works may cause to be placed properly marked signs along any street as he shall, from time to time, deem necessary for the removal of snow. It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to enter upon or park on any public street or way when a no parking ban has been declared and broadcast or within spaces indicated by signs, if either the director of public works has deemed signs necessary.
All Parking Bans will be placed on media outlets (Channels 6, 8, 13, and the radio). Also residents may sign up for email notification of parking bans though our online server.
The town does currently provide designated public parking area for off-street parking during parking bans at Ocean Park Square, Memorial Park, and Milliken St. parking lots.
If your vehicle was parked in violation of the ban and has been towed, please contact the Police Department at 934-4911, for information regarding recovery of the vehicle.
The town of Old Orchard Beach currently has a snow removal ordinance which states:
Sec. 54-143. - Snow removal.
(a) No vehicle shall be parked at any time on any public street or way so as to interfere with or hinder the removal of snow from such street or way by the town by plowing or loading and hauling. The police chief may cause any vehicle so parked on any street or way so as to interfere with or hinder the removal of snow by the town by plowing or loading and hauling to be removed from the street in accordance with sections 54-276, 54-278, 54-279 and 54-280.
(c) Snow from driveway or parking area plowing, shoveling or snow blowing from private property shall not be placed on the sidewalk or street. It must be stored on the property from which it was cleared.
